Shortness of breath from emphysema, COPD, asthma, and other chronic respiratory disorders or surgeries of the lung can make everyday activities like walking or climbing stairs anxiety-provoking and challenging. Our Pulmonary Rehabilitation team is here to help you breathe and function at the highest possible level.

Coordinated by our on-staff pulmonologist, your rehabilitation team will work with you to design an exercise program so you can progress at your own pace. Your oxygen level, heart rate, and blood pressure will be monitored regularly so you can feel safe and confident.

Your exercise regimen will include learning effective breathing and relaxation techniques, as well as ways to perform everyday tasks without unnecessary exertion.

Rehabilitation doesn’t replace medical therapy. Instead, it’s used in conjunction with medical therapy and may include:

  • Exercise training
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Education on your lung disease or condition, and how to manage it
  • Energy-conserving techniques
  • Breathing strategies
  • Psychological counseling and/or group support
